Hexham Rowing Club is located at the Tyne Green, Hexham. Hexham Rowing Club was founded in 1878 and is one of the oldest sports clubs in the North East. In the early days of Hexham Rowing Club its boathouse landlords were the Haydon Bridge Temperance Society.

Hexham Abbey  |

Description:
Hexham Abbey provides a stunning centrepiece to the town of Hexham in Northumberland. Guided tours for groups can be arranged by prior contacting the Hexham Abbey Administrator. Teas are served in the Monastic Workshop each Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday from 1:30 — 5:00 p.m. during June to September. Hexham Abbey was built between 1170 and 1250. A church has existed on the Hexham Abbey site for over 1300 years.

Description:
Tynedale Rugby Club is the top Rugby Union team in the region. Tynedale Rugby Club was founded in 1876. In their First match versus Elswick (now Northern) at Hexham on 30th Dec 1876 Tynedale won by a goal and two tries to nil. In 1877 other local teams merged with Tynedale Rugby Football Club - Hexham Excelsior, Heart of all England, Hexham Wanderers, Tynedale Rovers, Parkend Rangers and Hexham Violets. Tynedale became one of the six founder members of the Northumberland Rugby Union in 1880. Fourteen years later Tynedale hosted the first ever seven-a-side tournament in England.
